You can show up whenever to give yourself enough time to set up. People are arriving around 12 to start decorating.

Ceremony is outdoors by the creek. If it's bad weather the ceremony will be in the barn loft.

After the ceremony lawn games are up the hill - can you keep with the Background 5 type of music for the lawn games?

Then we have dinner inside and the dance in the loft of the barn after dinner. Matt said that at the Old Red Barn you guys just use a speaker set up for the yard games and then a speaker by the stairs for the music for dinner.

Intro to our grand entrance is that Ben made a video for Katie that they’d like to share with you now (and then play the Bruce buffer video off Bens laptop onto projector). When video ends, welcome the new couple for the first time as Ben and Katie Schmitt!! And play our song the blackhawks goal song Chelsea dagger by the fratellis (which starts slow for the first 25 second so if you can possibly time it right, you could play those 25 seconds as background noise while you’re announcing us and at the end of the “Ben and Katie Schmitt” at 25seconds it cranks up and we run in! Don’t know if that’s possible but would be super cool!)

As we sit down at the head table, can give the intros for the wedding party:

Groomsmen

Best man Brandon Schmitt – Brandon is Ben’s younger brother. Like most boys growing up, they spent most of their time fighting with each other. As they got older, Ben and Brandon became good friends sharing many of the same interests, and Katie has also become close with Brandon’s wife Becca.

Groomsman Bruce Porter – Bruce is a former co-worker of Ben’s and is largely responsible for Ben’s arrival in Canada. Bruce was part of the Westech team who interviewed Ben and recommended him for the role. Bruce also took Ben under his wing and helped him to become a true Albertan with a giant diesel truck and camper!

Groomsman Adam Zarowny – Adam currently works with Ben at Westech. After Bruce decided he was too good to work there anymore, Adam was hired as his replacement to take Westech to the next level! Adam and Ben have worked closely together for the last two years and have become good friends.

Groomsman James Mangaard – “Uncle” James is another current co-worker at Westech. James and Ben were roommates for most of Ben’s time in Canada and have rapped Eminem over many backyard bonfires! James is always there for Ben when he needs a helping hand and has done a lot for Ben during his time in Canada.

Bridesmaids

Maid of honour Lindsay Spencer - Lindsay and Katie met way back in grade seven and have been very close friends ever since. They’ve gone on multiple trips to Vegas, the mountains and the lake, along with an unforgettable trip to Hawaii with Lindsay’s daughter, junior bridesmaid Lilly. They’ve seen each other through some very tough times and have way too many good memories to count!

Bridesmaid Lisa Korby - Lisa and Katie also met in the seventh grade in the same class as Lindsay. Knowing how close their 26-year friendship was, Ben asked for Lisa’s permission before proposing! Until Covid hit, Katie and Lisa met up for wine nights every couple of weeks and she’s Katie’s go-to girl for anything fashion related.

Bridesmaid Nicole Chu - Nicole met Katie in grade ten social studies, where Lisa used to clop in late every day with her super noisy clogs and Katie was hardly ever there because she was skipping class every day with Lindsay. Nicole and Katie have a ton of amazing stories - but they swore each other to secrecy a long time ago!

Bridesmaid Kelsey Neigel - Katie met Kelsey about three years ago, through a mutual friend from Katie’s work. That winter Katie lived with Kelsey while pipelining out of Calgary, and they bonded over many a fine boxed wine! Not only have they become very close friends in the short time they’ve known each other, they can also clear any room with one of their late night sing along sessions.

Also at the head table are Ben and Katie’s good friends Tim and Dawn van Ameyde - Tim and Dawn are the first of Ben’s friends who met Katie, and they’re two of the most caring and generous people they know. Tim also works with Ben, and Katie couldn’t have pulled this wedding off without her saviour, Dawn.

Last but most definitely not least: they also have 5 junior bridesmaids!

At table 4, we have feisty little Rayna Nelson. From the time she could walk to this very day, almost every time she greets her Auntie Katie it’s with a running leap into her arms! Just for clarification, she is Katie’s favourite niece.

At table 3 sits the very shy Lilly Turner, Katie’s much appreciated brunette niece. Lilly knows every word to almost any rap song worth knowing, and just for clarification she is Katie’s favourite niece.

At table 5 is the endearing Kyla Nelson. The only thing Kyla likes driving more than her Auntie’s mustang is her Uncle Benz’s big Ford truck. And just for clarification, she is Katie’s favourite niece.

Our last two junior bridesmaids are Ben’s two beautiful daughters, Mayla and Adalyn Schmitt. Unfortunately the girls couldn’t make it up from Illinois for the wedding, as they’re just shy of being old enough to get vaccinated. Nothing lights Ben’s face up more than talking about his twin girls, and Katie is very much looking forward to visiting her new stepdaughters again with Ben for their twelfth birthdays this coming September!

6:45pm – GAME TIME BEFORE DINNER IS SERVED. The idea is similar to family feud. Please come up with a name for this game – you guys would be good at that lol. You ask for volunteers from the crowd – 5 girls, 5 guys. Who knows the bride and groom best? Guys vs Girls. One guy and one girl come up to you and you ask the question – whoever gets the most out of 5 will win a prize. (Jared and I will make sure you have the prize(s) before you play – I will have my wedding planner make sure you have them). Jared and I ask that you guys come up with 20 questions for him and I, and you choose your favorite 5/ its nice that we won’t know which ones will be asked.
7:00pm – MCs announce that dinner will now be served by Mercer Catering (thank you to them). You guys go to your tables and eat.
7:45pm (Doesn’t have to be this exact time but whenever you think guests are starting to near the end of their meal). MCs announce SPEECHES. Best Man Speech is first up! Ben Jorgenson.

8:10pm – Cake Cutting – please announce cake cutting (DJ tp play "Butterflies" by Max ft. Ali Gatie). The cake will be right in front of the bridal party table on its own little mini table. My wedding planner will most likely finish cutting the cake. Our wedding cake will be served to the bridal party and parents tables (2) only. Mercer’s catering has prepared dessert (mousse in a martini glass) – there will also be a table full of cupcakes for anyone that wants one and another table that has individually wrapped s’mores boxes – guests can bring their s’more around the fire later in the evening or take them home! You can announce cake cutting and dessert to be served at the same time? However you wanna do that.
8:20pm – Dessert is served. Go eat your dessert!
8:30pm – Nearing the end of dessert, announce next speech! First up, Jacqueline and Simon King (parents of the bride)
8:45pm – MCs announce next speech – Greg and Sue Jorgenson (parents of the groom)
9:00pm – MCs announce Bride and Groom speech. Brit and Jare come up – we will do our thank yous.
9:15pm – MCs come up for their final speech – and announce slideshow will be next and then first dances.
After the slideshow (created by Shane and Shelaina) – please announce the dances. I am not sure if you guys want to do this intro or if the DJ should do this intro?

Set Up In Machine Shop - Must Show up before 330 on day of and not drive into yard. Ceremony is at 4pm in yard - they dont want interuptions

There will be space for DJ to set up on the mezzanine inside the shop. The shop is divided into two halves. Left side is woodworking and the right side will be set up for dinner. DJ area is on the mezzanine on the dinner side. There is a door at the top of the stairs to the mezzanine that opens to the mezzanine on the woodworking side. Please direct a speaker into the woodworking side as the after-ceremony snacks will be served there (from 430 to 6:15) while the bride and groom are elsewhere on the property for pictures. At supper time the music will need to be directed to the dinner dance side.

You can either set up beside the lodge (there is an outlet on the outside of the building) if you have your own table OR you can set up on the upper deck on a picnic table, there is also outlets on the outside of the building up there. This might be the easiest option as moving inside to the reception area after will be easier.

The song Thinking Out Loud - Vesislava is 4:41 long so I think that should be enough time for the entire procession including groomsmen/bridesmaids before bride walks down the aisle.
